So the 2025-2026 season has come to an end. Six 2x champs were crowned. One Sophomore has a chance to become the 15th four-timer, with two champion Freshmen behind him. Six Champs will be graduating. Salesianum had the best night. They ran away with the state tournament points, and put 6 in the finals and 5 on the top of the podium. It’s almost unfair that they will all be returning next season.
The girls got their first true competitive season under their belt with great success. 39 schools sent girls to Delaware’s first Girls State Tournament. Though next year it should be DIAA sanctioned. St. Georges had a phenomenal season and came out on top. The growth is incredible, even here in Delaware, and next season should see huge gains. Website involvement from the girls side outpaced the boys. Thank you for your support Ladies.
That brings us to WrestleDelaware. We started in November when we realized that Trackwrestling had migrated into Flowrestling. The user experience was far from ideal and the uniqueness of Delaware wrestling was lost. DEpreps, an online forum that we are now attempting to replicate was also purchased
and the Delaware forum was eliminated. We were not sure what would become of this project but our goal was to make an attempt and support high school wrestling in Delaware by filling the voids lost. This included links and posts to the 302 rankings and the Facebook sites. Going in, we committed to a full single season.
For clicks we came out with an AI generated rankings. Though this put us on the map, it also got us blacklisted from the Delaware wrestling Facebook sites. We launched an Instagram account and the hate poured in telling us to shut it down from wrestlers, parents and coaches. Around Jan, we decided to pull our AI rankings and just broadcast 302 and Flo. It extinguished much of the negativity we were receiving.
The season has now ended. The site will remain up, and like many of the wrestlers, we are taking a break until November. The site itself was a big success in our eyes. We had 2100 active users, and 37,000 site visits. On the Friday of Championship weekend we had a high 450 unique users view the site. We had other ideas that didn’t go so well. This forum never took off like we had hoped with just several users. Free advertising for clubs and events, a free agent matcher, and free advertising for one on one sessions fell flat. Oh well. Maybe next season.
The forums will remain open. Maybe some off season comments will strike a chord. That pretty much sums up the season for us.
Have a healthy and safe offseason
