Preseason rankings are out. All rankings are based on in-season official high school sanctioned events. Matches won or lost over the summer are not included. Weights for the initial rankings are based on last year. This will obviously change when rosters are released by the schools. These initial rankings will exclude incoming freshman that did not compete in high school as an 8th grader. It will include students that wrestled last year but will not be wrestling for the 2025-2026 season. Every student’s record was fed into an AI driven engine to determine rankings. Factors considered: state and conference placement, wins, losses, common opponents, recent wins have more weight over past wins, F/TF/MD are also included among other factors like point differential of a decision. All points age with time, so for instance the weight of a State Champ in 2025, in the formula, counts a lot to the rankings the beginning of the season and will decrease significantly towards the end.

It will be interesting to see who changes weights and how that affects the rankings. I like the idea of this Wrestle Delaware site. There is a lot of potential here since DE is such a small state.
 
I believe many teams are starting their first week of competition. Could we see some new, more solidified rankings soon? I assume 302 Sports will release theirs as well.
 
It is hard to do anything at this point. Eight schools have still not released rosters and weights will not be added until the wrestler has wrestled a bout. I'm hoping by Sunday to have most of this season's wrestlers.
 
I think due to the Language model aspect for rankings it would be better to take a look at them after nig instate tournaments like Milford and Delcastle so we can see head to heads. Lots of good guys left out but it’s expected with it being so early.
 
Totally agree. Especially some high quality 9th graders are off the list. I decided to include every match, including the off season ones ~ 55,000 bouts to sort. Kids that were hurt last year were definitely affected as well as ones with a quiet off season. There should be some head to heads this week so I am interested to see how things shake out. I ran it through a total of 10 times, every time different and then asked the LLM to come up with a final ranking based on the 10 results.
 
That's pretty impressive! I saw 302 released their rankings yesterday and they looked a little different. I wonder how they decide on their rankings?
And just out of curiosity, how often will these rankings update? 302 updates roughly every 1-2 weeks I think.

Very impressed regardless. Very creative and should eliminate certain biases.
 
V2 for the season is up after a busy weekend. ChatGPT definitely giving me more trouble with made up wrestlers. I switched to Gemini and I think it's an all Delaware version. Looking a little more accurate too.

That makes sense on the rankings lol my son is listed at 285 but hes only had 1 match at 285. Hes cutting to 215 lol
 
He may be missing some matches in the system. If he is the one I think he is, we only have him wrestling 1 match so far and that is at 285. If you search him in the finder (Link) you will see his matches for this year and last year at 190 and 215. When it comes to weights, I asked it to go by the lowest weight wrestled this season for assigning weight class. If he is missing bouts, please email us at wrestledelaware@gmail
 
Its who youre thinking of lol Hes only had 1 match so far this year, he put some weight on for football and didnt lose it in time, between the hydration test and his weight, trackwrestling put him in the 285 category and said he couldn't safely get down to 215 until yesterday. So hopefully tomorrow he'll have his first 215 match of the year
 
Quick question...is there a way to change the order of the messages so the most recent ones pop up at the top of the page? That way we don't have to scroll down through a lot of posts we have already read (not a big deal now but if this site gets big it could be helpful)? Thanks for considering.

I don't think so. This is a paid drop in forum. I think it is the standard and goes chronologically.
